Antique clock world is a world that is very interesting and challenging (of course if you like). Interesting is that the antique clock is a testament to the romance of the past history in which a given historical period passed. Interesting, also because often an antique clock that depicts or represents the authentic proof of an event in the past. And what I hear most often is, is interesting because the owners have an emotional bond with the antique clock. For example, the clock is like a clock that was once owned by his grandfather first. Or the hours that are giving their parents when someone graduated from high school or anything that is closely related to one’s emotional side. Challenging, because not all of an antique clock that has a good value to be stored (this is when we see it from the investment side as well) and not all antique clock that circulate or sell it ‘right’ and genuine. Why? The logical course, at that age was 50 years old very sure there are some parts of the hour is already not the original. Because of the age and storage and usage are often shorten the life of parts of a clock. This article wants to tell the fact that I often encounter in the experience of collecting antique clock, the parts aftermarket. Aftermarket, according to the definition of this article is replacement parts are not made by the original manufacturer of these hours. Some say the counterfeit parts, yes there is a point because it’s not made by the factory at it. For more delicate I call it “aftermarket”. In the picture above you can see a Bullhead my collection that I think its bezel insert is aftermarket parts. Why? based on my observations of many Bullhead I have ever had and see, also based on observations in the original brochure Seiko in the 70s, Seiko Bullhead never had a bezel insert with the words ‘Tachymeter’ is yellow, but white. At first I was also unsure of the dial and needle, but according to observations of a colleague who was fond of Seiko and has a broad knowledge, and the clock dial is still original. Seiko Bullhead condition that I have this really nice and clean, even the chain is still the original default of this type.
